After 35 years of serving the community, Geloso's Bakery (located on the SW corner of 14 Mile Rd. & Hayes Rd.) has sold, in a deal brokered by Joe Sowerby. Former owner, John Geloso, said "my son has started his career and the timing couldn't have been better". The new owners, with a strong food service background, will be operating a similar business. Best wishes to both the seller and buyer in their new ventures from Anton, Sowerby & Associates.
Our in-house animal activist, Joe Sowerby, is part of an "army of animal rights activists" who are trying to stop HB 5916 and 5917 that, if passed into law, would relinquish local control of pet shops and increase the use of puppy mills. Read Jameson Cook's Macomb Daily story from May 22nd by clicking on the image for more information on these bills.
25 years ago, our Joe Sowerby hosted his first Meet Your Best Friend event at the Detroit Zoo. Since then, over 25,000 animals have been placed in their new homes, with their new "fur"ever families. Meet Your Best Friend has become one of the largest off site animal adoption events in the United States. The Detroit Zoo, partnered with the Michigan Humane Society, will host the May event on Friday and Saturday.
